I can’t believe it is already October! September extended our summer the long, hot summer, but the month flew by in the Luck house. It has taken me longer than I wanted to write this post about all of our fun highlights last month, but being sick myself and having sick kids means it can be a challenge to find the energy and time. But none the less, our September was filled with many fun family outings!

It's always a struggle to get back into the swing of things when school starts back. Morning routines, school, afternoon activities a couple days a week and then coming home to do homework, making a yummy and health dinner, then bedtime routine does not always allow for quality time together so we live for the weekends in our house.

Both of our girls have such active imaginations and are also both creative as well. So one weekend we took the girls to the Discovery Place in Huntersville, NC. This location is very different than the uptown Charlotte location. It allows kids to explore activities based on occupations. From shopping and checking out in a grocery store to flying an airplane and going through security, the girls were able to be hands on and let their imaginations soar. It was a fun day, and worth exploring this fall if you're in the area.

Ken is really awesome at finding deals for various activities and shows going on in the city. One site that was particularly helpful last month is Travel Zoo. Make sure to sign up for the newsletter and deal alerts based on your location. Through this site we were able to take both girls to see Disney on Ice and, I also took Abbie to see the Broadway production of Aladdin.

Disney on Ice was so much fun. We took Abbie when she was about 3-4 years old and she loved it, so it was nice to be able to take her again. We were worried how Ellie would do because she is so young but she was mesmerized. She interacted with the characters she knew. Poor Nana though, every time one of Ellie‘s favorite characters came out she would hit her Nana’s arm and tell her who was out there.

The story plot for the show centered around Tinker Bell’s wand being stolen by the pirates working for Captain Hook and they had to follow the map to figure out what they needed to recharge the magic and help Tinker Bell. Some of the acts included Bell, Toy Story, Moana, Little Mermaid and of course Frozen. There were a couple more but I honestly don’t remember them all - and the ice skating was amazingly well done too! Overall it was a great night out and the girls enjoyed it.

Abbie loves going to the theater and when Ken saw the deal for the Aladdin tickets we knew we wanted to take her. The show was amazing and a little different from the movie. Abu was replaced with three friends and Iago was a person rather than a parrot. The music was well done and the set was beautiful. It was a longer show and we went to the early evening showing. Abbie loved it and it was great spend time with her, just the two of us!

I also have to brag on Abbie. Her creativity has inspired her to love art class and one of her Kindergarten paintings was featured at Art in the Park, a local festival in Charlotte. It’s always fun to go, but even better to see her work showcased this year!

Overall, the activities with the girls were fun and I enjoyed watching them enjoy themselves and it is always nice to be able to go out and explore our city. I think though that my favorite thing to do with them, is to curl up on our couch in the bonus room and snuggle while we watch movies. We spent September watching all three Disney Descendants movies and getting caught up on the Toy Story movies before we saw Toy Story 4.
