Last week was one for the books for the Luck family. It started with Ellie on Monday running a fever and being diagnosed with croup, an upper airway infection that blocks breathing and has a deep barking cough. Then the very next day Ken get so sick and ends up going to the ER and has an appendicitis with emergency removal that night of his appendix. {Ken is doing fine and is recovering well} Both of these had me out of work for three days during spring midterms {fortunately I was at work to give the only midterm I had}. It was super crazy and stressful and exhausting. So needless to say this past Saturday ended up being a me day.

The week before this all went down Ken was looking at Charlotte Agenda {this is the best place to find out what is going on in the Queen City: food, festivals, pop ups you name it you can find it here} and saw this fun event: $30 for a blowout with a Diet Coke popup. He surprised me as he knew I had been wanting to try DryBar {I don’t particularly like having to wash, dry and style my hair} and he thought this would be a great way for me to try it.

So I get there and it is already very busy, I check in as get a copy of the Charlotte Agenda magazine and a free scrunchy {Abbie loves this since it was both soft and pink}. They had a really cute photo both set up to help promote Diet Coke’s new flavors, Strawberry Guava and Blueberry Açaí {see the pictures at the end}. My wait wasn’t long and I absolutely loved my stylist. She took me back and started the whole process. I color my hair and they made sure to use the right products to help protect the color. To me there is no greater feeling than someone washing and shampooing your hair. It felt wonderful. When finished she started blowing out my hair. After she got it it dry she asked me to check out the look book for examples of how I wanted it styled. They had something for everyone. Personally I love curls, so I was torn between the Cosmo style and the Mai-tai but fortunately there was a middle ground here in the Cosmo-tai. It combines the soft big curls of the Cosmo with the more beach feel of the Mai-tai. I loved how it turned out.

So while my hair was being worked on I sat back and enjoyed my Strawberry Guava Diet Coke. Y’all I don’t like Diet Coke, if I do a diet drink it is Coke Zero or Diet Dr. Pepper, but I loved this drink. It didn’t taste like a Diet Coke nor was it too fruity either {not a huge fan of those types of drinks either} but this was a nice blend of all of the flavors. I can so see this being a summer go to for me this year. Also while I was sitting in my chair totally reveling in being pampered they brought around a dessert tray. There was two types of desserts that went with the two new flavors, strawberry danish and a blueberry macaroon. Not ashamed to say I had both and loved each of them.

Once my hair was finished a received a cute little travel bag with samples of some DryBar products. I loved everything about my hair and my experience there. I totally am going to try to have this little luxury more often. The normal price is $45 and for someone who has a ton of hair and hates doing it I don’t see this as unreasonable.

So I thought my day of pampering was over but when I got home Ken informed me that my mother -in-love offered to watch the girls for us so we could have a date {such a surprise and totally appreciated}.  We didn’t know where wanted to go but I had been craving sushi. I first wanted to go back to Hawkers but it is still one of the "it" places so we had to pass. We ended up trying a new Ramen place called Yume.

Ever since Ken introduced me to Ramen on our honeymoon, I’ve been hooked. This place is great. We tried their pork belly bao buns which were great. We also split their Kagi roll. I loved this. I was a little nervous because I don’t usually do well with raw fish {it’s a texture thing for me} but with this roll I couldn’t even tell. Then we had our Ramen. It was really good and was a huge portion. Ken and I both ordered our own and we really could have split it and probably still would have had some left over.

I really enjoyed my night with the hubs but also the thoughtfulness of him. He spoils me too much sometimes and I am beyond thankful for him. This week was crazy but as long as we tackle life as a team, with the help of the Lord, we can go up against just about anything.
